Vibro Replacement – Stone Columns
Very weak, cohesive and organic soils that are not suitable for standard vibro techniques can be improved by the installation of vibro replacement. This involves construction of load bearing columns made from gravel or crushed stones.
The stone columns are typically installed under uniformly loaded structures, such a building slabs and embankments, on a regular grid spacing. A load transfer platform can then be designed to spread the load from the structure to the improved ground.
Vibro Stone Columns offer a highly economical and sustainable alternative to piling and deep foundation solutions, removing the need to bypass problem ground by densifying and strengthening weak or poorly compacted soils in-situ.
